By this time last year me and my family had 15-20 legal crappie and a yellow perch in the freezer. This year 4 crappie and 2 yellow perch. We fishing the same way but for some reason fish not there. Guessing it's just a colder start to the year this year. We not even catching 8-10in bass to keep us busy.

By this time last year people were taking crappies out 40 - 50 a person two to three times a week. Look back at my old post. I said don't complain when they are gone. Well guess what !!! This lake is too small to withstand that kind of pressure. I'm glad bigger bass aren't that easy or they would have them gone as well.

No fish in my freezer! oh no that sounds terrible. hahaha. No you can't find them in lake, maybe practice catch and release from time to time.

Any one person keeping 40-50 crappie is totally against regulations. I think the most I kept in a day was 18. I release all crappie under 9in even those that are iffy. 1 thing to remember is the damn is safe haven. Hundreds maybe even thousands of crappie spawn there each year untouched. So I highly doubt the population is in jepordy. Oh let's not forget crappie love stumps and every year the stump field gets closed many of crappie spawn there as well.

50 is the daily limit for panfish. I absolutely have seen these characters catch & keep 50. There's a post a while back about Ranger Bonney fining a fisherman with well over the 50 fish limit of crappie. He showed me a pic on his phone of the citation he wrote.

Pennsylvania fishing handbook states" on panfish enhancement waters ( such as Chambers Lake) where there is a size limit for more than one species the creel limit for each species is 20 per day per person

After buying license and all the tackle how are the fish free? Most of the fish sold in supermarket are farmed raise, believe it or not those are horrible for you. As a kid I was brung up on eat what you catch we didn't go sport fishing. That's why I never fish for largemouth bass they taste nasty to me. I garuntee you this you eat some fresh fried crappie yellow perch or bluegill and you will never look at supermarket fish the same. God put fish and animals on this Earth for man to eat there will never be any shame in my game in enjoying the bounty the Lord has provided for me

I don't think the crappie population has been decimated at Chambers and I live close by and fish it regularly. This year does seem later than last; likely a result of the roller coaster temps.I caught crappie well after the Spring run last year, and sometimes on bright sunny days too. For the locals that probably take more than they should, there is a slight counter of skilled anglers who release them all. In addition even when there is a good bite I generally find around 3-4 shorts for any over 9. I probably released well in excess of a 100 crappie myself last year for the handful of meals I took, and many were within an in. of the limit; some over. Hopefully the Rangers will continue to keep an eye on the anglers,and if you want more big fish; let more big fish go. Both my biggest got released last year; caught on the same day while I was "working"; wink wink!

 The panfish regs need to be greatly tightened up there's no way someone needs to keep more than 5-7 fish a day and that to me is still a lot. Remember people your not the only ones that are eating those fish. How do you think those big bass get so big?! So fish smart and responsibly, leave some for the next guy or gal or fish. Keep only what you can eat.

As i chuckle to myself knowing in 3 years these same yahoos will be complaining that they had to buy fish at acme because Marsh was fished out...well at least they tasted good while it lasted..

Since you like Acme previously frozen fish so much continue to eat them. I will NEVER buy that junk. I will however keep what I need that is caught legally and enjoy the taste of fresh fish that I have a right to enjoy. Man has fished for food since the beginning of time and will until the end of time regardless of what you "YAHOOS' have to say about it.
