Has anyone been out on the lake recently? I went a week or two ago with no luck.

Surprised crappie not loaded at the bridge right now. Did they finally get overfished?

There have been fisherman at the Little Conestoga bridge for the past 2 weeks. My experience @ Marsh Creek has been that the first 2 weeks of April are best for crappie.

I remember when almost soon as ice left you could catch crappie at the bridge. 2yrs ago we had a very warm last week of Feb and I caught crappie. I can also remember times in March when cold nights would put a thin layer of ice in the back cove. Musky would have bluegill and shiners so scared they would jump on the ice. The ice was so thin Musky would break through the ice after bait fish. And yes we caught crappie that day. So my opinion crappie not in the bridge by now they definitely getting fished out. I would guess crappie return to the area they were born to spawn. So would crappie born near the dam be at the bridge at this time of year?

It was extremely bad Sunday. Spoke to an angler on a boat and all he caught we're a couple of small Yellow Perch. Rattle traps, drop shotting gulp minnows, and trout magnets with no success. Had fun anyway but it'd been nice to get something. Good luck all!

I would love to see Marsh creek get big panfish restrictions like Chambers. Who with me?

The idea behind the size limits the PFBC uses is NOT to increase size, but rather to increase numbers caught. If they wanted to increase size then they would need to use "slot limits". Something like - you can't keep any crappie between 9-12" and only 1 crappie over 12". Over time the majority of the spawning fish would be in the 9" or better class passing on better genes.

Fished out? I doubt that, I believe water temperature and levels plays a big role in the panfish moving into the shallows and actively feeding. The fish most likely moved in shortly after the ice melted but have been inactive. I was there Monday ( March 25 ), Sunday was mild and Sunday night never got below 50 degrees, Monday was threatening rain and warm. I arrived at 7 A M, from my first cast until 11 A M I caught Crappie on both sides of the bridge. Night time temperatures have been running below average, close to freezing most nights, once those temperatures go average or above, the bite will pick up. I have been fishing that spot for as long as I can remember, starting with perch in March then Crappies once the water warms, this year has been exceptionally slow, over the last year our weather has changed and so has the fishing pattern. Even the Ospreys has been absent for now, which are diving often on both sides of the bridge, one other factor has been the water level has been quite low and is just starting to come up with the recent rains. This is just my opinion, soon the bite will kick in like it did for me and a few others yesterday. Sound familiar? "Should of been here yesterday!"

Icemole not man I really like your idea especially for Marsh creek. That would would help a lot. I will say I will always go to Chambers with a good day being catching 25-30 crappie with around 15 keepers over 9in. That to me beats going to Marsh catching 100 but only 3 over 9in. I can't keep that many small crappie. Iceman good for you normally the 1st the ones to move in are the bigger ones. Enjoy I'm white perch fishing myself Nxt 2weeks Maryland bond

There are a bunch of guys promoting "selective harvest" on the Blue Marsh F/B page and a few other sites I'm on. How many actually do it remains to be seen..... but Catch + Release started out on trout creeks and is now the "norm" for bass and musky..... So there's hope.

Very slim hope at Marsh creek Icemole. I have been there and seen up to 4 different people keeping everything they catch. 4&5in crappie didn't stand a chance. I can only imagine what happened on days I wasn't there. And let's not forget the father and son who got caught with 150 illegal crappie. Now I believe there are lots of quality crappie in there but I'm guessing you need to get off the beaten path or boat accessible place to get them.

I have witnessed people on the bridge filling up buckets with fish, someone comes by in a car, they empty bucket into another and keep fishing. It's disgusting what people do.

Now that's what you call trying to use loopholes in the law. It's a shame people are that desperate. I mean who actually needs more than 50 crappie. My cleaning limit is 30 at a time and it might take 2 days to get that
