Just got in from Chambers and it was a wonderful evening! Fished 3 hours in the shallows with minnow's and jigs caught 4 nice largemouths biggest was 15 inches (jig)really healthy looking fat fish. 1 11 inch yellow perch, 4 nice crappie that were a quarter of an inch under being legal there. 3 SLABS!!! Fat foot longs! They put up a good fight on a microlight with 4lb test. Left the fish biting it was too dark to see my float to stay another minute but I really didn't want to leave. I'll be back (in my Terminator voice) LOL

Pickerel definitely biting. Now finding them might be hard. I have caught pickerel in mid March here before

Fished about 2.5 hours near the dock. 1 14 inch largemouth , 1 fat 8 inch bluegill. 1 small perch, 2 small crappie and 2 9 inch keepers. Heard folks on the other side of the lake hollering about big crappie just before the rain. Is there a road that leads to the other side near the rangers boat?

They say you are not allowed to walk across the damn at all. But I have heard the walk across the damn is way easier than parking inside Hibernia and walking through the woods.

you can't "walk across the dam" but I see people walking towards the park side of the lake "away from the dam" a decent amount. Not sure how easy it is to navigate through the woods to get to the spots over there, but I assume there are enough trails that it shouldn't be too big of a problem.
I have never fished for them intentionally, but have caught pickerel pretty regularly in the cove just to the right of the stump field on small swimbaits early in the year. I may have to start targeting them if I don't figure out the bass bite there soon.
