I just heard on WCHE 1520 AM that an ice fisherman fell thru the ice today at Struble and was safely rescued. After last weekend's rain and warm temps, the ice took a beating. Be extremely careful going out and try not to walk in pairs side by side. No doubt with the amount of clothing we wear, trying to get back onto the ice would be difficult. No crappie or perch bite is worth it, we all have that passion for hard water fishing and could easily ignore better judgement, Please BE SAFE!

Update: 6 ABC has reported that it was an ice boat that sailed into open water down by the dam and the man was rescued. Conflicting reports but either way be safe out there.

Yes it was an ice boat.....guy sailed right into open water and my buddy was there fishing and saw everything happen. Luckily the ice boater had his ice spikes to crawl out, but it wasn't easy for him from what my buddy said.
Sad how badly "news reporters" make up stuff even after they interview an eye witness. One article said the ice was outright melting yesterday....kind of tough for ice to melt when the temps didn't make it above freezing.
That being said...safety first and make sure you have proper safety equipment for yourself and to help others.
