Fished the spillway, the riprap near boat launch, Spruce Grove bridge and the wood side off of 472. Medium fatheads under a slip bobber small split-shot. Pole #2 Chartuse grub. Caught 1 small perch and a 14 inch LM near the bridge on minnows. Not even a bite in the riprap! Small hits at the spillway NO fish. Wood side 1 small crappie 3 FAT Bluegill about 8 inches all on minnows. THEN it happened! Bobber went under immediately after cast VIOLENTLY I set the hook and felt MAJOR pull the drag squeeled for 10 seconds then stopped I began to reel in then POP goes my line!!! Using 4Lb Berkeley mono. I tried for another half hour without a bite after that. I Wonder what it was that ATTACKED my minnow and broke my line so violently? ?? Any opinions?

Where exactly did the huge bite take place?

Right by the parking lot on 472 where the woods begin left side

This time of year I'm thinking Pike or bass large or smallmouth. Can't really picture walleye being that shallow this early or actually there could be a wash down monster trout from the creek right there.

Surprised no keeper white perch I have caught few really nice ones while spring crappie fishing. I have never seen a nice yellow perch in there but there has to be some somewhere in there

Saw a guy coming out of the woods as it was getting dark with a bucket full of keeper Crappie's and White perch! He said it was a LONG walk to the back of the woods where the fish are. I will be back up there one of these cool evening's coming up hopefully. Been there 3 times this summer and I still can't figure the place out.

If you like the taste of crappie definitely worth it. There wasn't any white perch in octorara when I use to walk back there. I wouldn't walk back there just to sport fish.

I would definitely be fishing for keeper crappie to fry in some cornmeal!
