Got to the lake at 8 and started catching Largemouth on the second cast. We got 18 by noon and the bite stopped. Got some nice size, several over 2lb and 1 @ 2.7. Catching from 2ft. to 10 ft. Everything was on plastics and it didn't matter what we threw they were hitting. Ned rigs did most of the catching.

What is a Ned rig? Similar to a wacky rig?

No, it's a jig head with a short hook shaft and a 2.5 in. plastic body. I have caught more fish with this rig than any I have ever used.Z man makes them. It's caught bass, musky, perch and bluegill so far. Discovered them in Bassmaster magazine. Check Youtube.Gordon's has them.

Sounds like you hit the lake at the perfect time. The lake is like that; there's just some times where it is on fire and then the next time it isn't. I always catch bass there; normally double digits but like you; there are just some great days. Just try not to reveal too much info on the lake; it's already getting way too busy on Saturdays and Sundays to the point where it's almost unfishable.

I agree that lake is becoming a zoo on weekends. When I first found this lake I'd be out there for hours with maybe 2 other boats. now it's a zoo in my opinion. Guessing everyone can't find parking at marsh creek and then drive here. Next it'll be Struble that gets over run with folks.

I have used different weights but right now since I'm fishing deeper I'm using the heavier ones. Haven't seen any difference between weedless and not. I do get hung up a lot with both.

I agree with your post; I used to get down there at 5:30 or 6:00 and was always the first boat there. Now I get down there and there's already 4-5 boats in the water. By 9:00 or so it's so packed you can't fish all of the spots you used to. The parking lot is basically full by 10:00 AM and there's typically a line or wait now to pull your boat back out of the water. But as soon as someone reports a massive catch at Struble or Hopewell then everyone will be flocking there. I used to love Chambers (actually; I still do) but I find myself going there less often because of all of the crowds.

Most of the crowd(anywhere) is due to the kayak craze. Besides every guy fishing out of a yak there are 20 just paddling around. Just about every retailer is selling them, surprised Sheetz or Wawa isn't yet LOL. Now paddle boards are being thrown into the mix too - oh well at least windsurfing has died out LOL.
I'm amazed at the number of yakers on Blue Marsh(some in part due to the rental guy) even down on the main lake. Not all are real visible either, some are colored to blend in while others sit very low in the water.
