I've been fishing the river near lock 60 and the black rock dam for smallies with no success, and was wondering if anyones ever done any catfishing here, particularly at night as im interested in trying it out. If so would you mind guiding me on how to rig, baits, and a location I could try it out at, thanks everyone!

There's fish platform at the Black Rock Nature Sanctuary. Worms and plenty of lead to hold bottom. Same thing on the other side of the river fishing off the boat dock.

what fish platform are you talking about? I fishing this all the time and have no idea what you mean. Hope you aren't referring to fish ladder, can't fish within a 100 yards of that either side, unless you want a ticket.

Haven't fished for catfish in a few years but we used to sit on the canal side of the river right above the dam and right below. Chicken livers or worms for channels or bullheads and live bait (sunnies, chubs, shiners) for flat heads and get the occasional big channel. The canal was pretty good for some channel cats too.

It's a fish platform....it overhangs the river. It's actually nice they boards for you to lay down tackle and bait your hook. It's on the north side of the river, across from the boat launch. There's a small zoo located there with a pkg lot, picnic tables, grills.

ok I do know the area, right below the small zoo. I haven't fished there yet, did check it out recently to see if I can put a kayak in and fish that section.

Don't waste your time with chicken livers. Use fresh cut bait and or live bait like dummies. Livers will only get you channels. It's flatheads you want.

I think the access road is gated. I've fished both sides, never caught anything on the platform (during the day) but caught flats off the boat dock at night on live bluegill.
