Has anyone done any fishing in the green lane reservoir or the 2 lakes connected?

I have fished for bass on Deep Creek lake a few times in the late 90's early 00's did OK, lots of weeds. Never fished Green Lane they did require you to leave your boat there(open field no security) for 10 days pior to putting in in the water and there was a charge(more for non-county residents). That was back in the 80's don't know present story - Deep Creek was open to all - with no boat quarantine or charge when we fished it. Poor ramp best suited to car toppers/canoes/yaks. It is also a pretty small lake that they stock with trout in the spring now, not sure if it got stocked back when I fished it

I did a scout out last summer of this area. I spent at least 2 hours driving in/out/all around the park and was not impressed. It seemed like a nice place to picnic, but offered very little opportunity to access the water to fish from shore or wade. When I did find an access spot, there were tons of weeds/grass. I don't remember seeing any boats or even yaks on the water. Lots of people fishing from bridges, but didn't see anyone catching anything. In short, looked like it had tons of potential (if you look at the area maps) , but didn't deliver. I wrote it off as "nice road trip, but zero for fishing". I'd love to know if anyone has a positive impression of this area and where/why. Maybe I just missed seeing/finding decent fishing spots.

Last time I was there (a couple of years ago) I found it to be infested with small carp in the 2-3 pound range.

Try the area around Knight's Bridge for carp. When I fish off the bridge I see tons of them.

We've been hitting green lane from the opener. almost every week and in between. The lake is loaded with good fish, largemouths small mouths are showing up more and more and up to 5 lb's. channel cats are caught nearly every trip . The biggest this year is around 12 lb's. Crappies are caught out in the open water channels and under the bridges when the sun is bright. Havent caught any big boys in the last 3 years 14 1/2 inches, most are 6 to 10 inches. We use small jigs with a chartruse grub 1/8th to 1/64th oz. The white perch are caught every where just above the crappies our biggest is 12 inches but most run 6 to 9 inches. Once in a while we will get bite off from the pike . there is some over 43 inches there. But most hang where you cant fish. They mix with the big bass that hang on the deep channel across from the boat launch. It has a good brake from 6 foot to over 20 foot. Thats where the largest fish in the lake are usually caught Largemouths up to 8 a/2 lb's have been caught by us. When the water is around 60 degrees up to 70 the weedless worm a. watermellon with red flakes catch alot there. The salty spider is another that brings fish off that brake from 6 feet to the 20 foot drop. Our best results on the crappies are a controlled drift in open water with the small jigs. when the sun is high the bigger crappies will be 10 to 15 foot deep, the smaller fish will be up near the surface in less then 5 feet mixed with the white perch. Yellow perch are showing up more and more with better size in the last few years. If you were on the water during the Memorial day week everyone I talked to just clobbered the laregmouths many going up to 5 lb's. Check out my web site by going to any search engine put in knappys outdoor adventures. Have many pics and fishing reports of local lakes and other waters on the east coast and Canada.
