We didn't feel like waiting any longer, so a few of us went north to francis slocom state park in Luzerne co for the first ice fishing of the year,,,everyone caught some fish,,nothing in great numbers but quality fish to 12inch,,marked a lot of uninterested fish that just wouldn't chase,,afternoon wind sucked,,needed all the anchors 4 sure,,blow the side in more than once, lol,,,all in all I thought we did pretty good for never having been there before. good day, long day,,,no problem falling asleep last night that's 4 sure.,,,most of the fish were white crappie with some gills,,,,couple perch,,2 catfish.

Nice, good job on finding those Fish. Let me know if you plan on making another trip up north, I'll meet you guys there. I'm itching to get out, and with our weather patterns there may be just a very short season like last year around here.

It's a shame that it's about to warm up the next couple days. I stopped by a small lake I Fish a few times a season in lower bucks County today and it was capped over with about 2 inches of ice. It's normally the last lake to freeze over that I Fish and just a couple more days of cold weather would have made it good by the weekend. I'm thinking struble is the same way. Don't think it'll survive the next few days.

buddy stopped by struble after work yesterday and had a jig pole with him.. he was fishing next to someone about 40yds-50yds off the parking lot had 3-3.5 inches.. and he was told 2.5 inches in the middle.. he only stayed 5 minutes.. caught a shiner.. the guy he was fishing next to was having good luck with the crappie.. He said a bunch of Amish were leaving as he was coming in. also kids ice skating back and forth across the lake..... if we only could have had another 2 days of Monday's weather

If you feel like making a run, the warm up may not be as bad up north. Went to Mauch Chunk yesterday and was drilling holes in 7+ as of last night when I left. Don't know how much of that will remain after this warm spell but hoping to get back on Sunday or Monday. Saw a few guys scattered throughout the area from Launch B. Also a couple people out in the middle. Got my biggest Sunny of all time along with a huge Pickeral, bunch of little pics, about 6 bass to 2 lbs and a couple nice Perch. It was definitely worth the near 2 hour drive.

Well, the 2 inches of ice I found on Tuesday is completely gone today. Depressing. Might have to just take the boat out if this keeps up.

Went up to Frances Slocum Lake on Wednesday, had the same results as Panfishin, marked alot of fish but the bite was slow. Weather was good ( 45 degrees and no wind). Fished for 6 hours and kept 8 quality crappie, threw back numerous gills and small crappie. Definitely a long haul for one day, next time maybe geat a hotel room and stay a couple of days.
