Started the morning at 7:15 AM......just a little cold outside at 38 degrees. I forgot my neoprene fishing gloves so needless to say, my fingers were a little numb. The fog was as thick as pea soup upon arriving to the lake and was difficult to see your way around. I seriously ticked off a duck hunter as I motored right towards his decoys; I really didn't see them as I was watching for debris on the water. So a few angry words from him and it was time to head down the lake. Water temps were 58 degrees when I arrived (and never really warmed up much from there). I did end the morning (a 4 hour trip) with nine more Bass added to my Blue marsh total for the year. A bunch of dinks though; all bass were between 10-12". Those were not the normal size Bass I catch in the lake but I was just happy to catch fish period! The water sure did cool down quickly; I was hoping for some great action as the water hit the magic 60 degree mark but those bass just weren't cooperating. The winter drawdown has begun and actually I just checked now and it's down to winter pool at 285; normal pool is 290. The lower boat docks are out; the sheidy dock was still in on saturday; but with the lake being dropped 5 feet that dock is useless. I might give it another shot yet next weekend (with warm temps this week) but I'm thinking my first season on Blue Marsh may be coming to an end.
