How good would the Brandywine below marsh creek be for floating it in a float tube/pontoon? I want to chuck some big flies for musky and smallmouth. And before all of you tell me about the water temps, I know it's too hot for musky, I'm doing it toward fall

East Branch waaaaayyyy too shallow. Better to try West Branch well below West Chester. Look up Northbrook Canoe. Even better the closer you get to Rte. 1 near Chadd's Ford.

What Wader said.
But, you can walk a couple of miles and find some interesting pools from bellow MC to Downingtown.

Thanks guys. I'm glad I didn't take the tube down there. I guess I'll take my 9wt and my 5wt and do a double trip for trout when they stock in October.

I live near Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford and fish the river frequently. In terms of smallmouth, theres a fair amount almost everywhere but theres not many big ones. Ive seen muskie a few times, and caught a small one (23") at the river museum this spring. I would recommend floating down from shaws bridge park, where the two branches meet, and going to the river museum. There are gonna be some shallow stretches wherever you go on the brandywine, but fishing wise I'd say that is the stretch to fly fish! Good luck!
