ANyone know any access points in the upper part of Valley creek? I am looking for areas in the Chesterbrook\Great Valley area before the creek enters Valley Forge Park. there is a little park on 29, but it's a long hike through people's back yards before the creek holds trout.
PM me if you are willing to share.
Thanks Paul

Are you talking about valley creek park? There's wild Browns all through that park area. There's a little park on 401 but last time I was there I didn't see any. In the past I have. Ecology park.

By 401, do you mean Ecology Park or Phila Memorial Park??? Can you be more specific?

Moving downstream from the park off route 29 can be ok, especially in high water flows, just lots of brush to contend with and not too many holes. Ecology Park off 401 is tiny. Most of the creek there can be jumped from one side to the other without getting your feet wet. There are a couple of holes that will hold them but if you catch one then that is it...any others will be spooked, these are wild trout after all. Very little fishable water IMO and really not worth the effort. I live near there and can say the few that may be there are mostly under 7" or so. Below 202 is posted to 29 so that is out.

I was thinking of the area between 29 and chesterbrook, it's a little wider there.
I have no intention of going after trout there until Oct-Nov, but I want to have some spots lined up and scouted.
please be careful posting wild trout spots publically, there are a lot of eyes on this board that may not respect the trout. I will share any (almost ;-) ) of my spots privately with contributors of this forum.
thanks for the info, I will check it out

Here's an idea, why don't you go out and explore the spots. You shouldn't be asking where to fish along a creek, go find your own. Isn't the point of fishing, to get out and explore? too many lazy people looking to burn someone's spot.

Take a walk at valley creek park. It's cool watching those little Browns rise. Trail goes back through the woods. Very challenging. You have to be creative with your casting. It's smaller than most people would feel comfortable fishing.

I swung by the little Park at lunch since I work nearby. The creek is very small here, will need to use a very small Tenkara rod or something in the 5' 0-3wt range. I still would like to find something a little further down towards Chester brook. There is a corporate Park that has parking lot that gets close to the creek. Going to scout that out soon.
Thanks for the tip

good luck on the exploration - i've wondered about that area myself in the past. btw, i've fished upstream about as far as you can go within VF park and the stream is relatively narrow like some of the guys have described farther upstream so i wouldn't be too hopeful of finding decent size water. but, here's hoping - fingers crossed. good luck.

Has anyone tried Valley Creek near Chesterbrook yet this fall? I work in CB and was thinking of bringing my rod to work with me one day and trying to get on the water for an hour or so before dark
