All I can say is that this lake just keeps getting better and better! I hit Hopewell at about 6:00 AM on Saturday and easily had 8 in the boat by 7:00 AM. The lake did become quite crowded on Saturday quite early (kayaks and canoes etc.) but I was still able to hit the spots I was aiming for. I only stayed for a little over 3 hours but I managed 11 Bass for the day and I honestly believe they are starting to grow; instead of the normal 10" Hopewell Bass many of them were running around 14" or even better. I can say if you intend to fish this lake get there early; things are picking up there with the warmer weather so it becomes quite crowded after 10:00 AM. Also; just the weekend before I nailed 14 Bass in a little over 2+ hours. On both occasions all Bass were caught on soft plastics. And a word of wisdom; just because there is a bare bank with no cover does not mean there is not a Bass sitting in there; that's all I'll say, haha. This lake sure is a little gem and a ton of fun to fish. I've been on this lake easily over 100 times and it does appear as if its getting better and better each year.

Have you caught any of the nice ones in there lately? I've fished it for years from the shore and a boat, early and late, and even at night. I can't find any of the nice ones. I only live about 5 minutes from the lake, but I rarely fish it because of the promise ofnbigger fish at blue marsh, marsh creek, and chambers, all a half hour away. Thanks

I haven't caught a "nice" one in there since 2014. I have had numerous bass out of there that were 5+ but again; not in two years. I typically fish Hopewell as a numbers lake; I catch better quality fish elsewhere but not quite the numbers that I catch at Hopewell. When I get out and have a few slow trips I automatically head to Hopewell because I know I'll catch a good quantity there. But in the past it was always a bunch of 10" Bass and now they seem to be closer to 14" most of the time. I have caught a few up to 18 last season but no monsters. I also fish Blue Marsh and Chambers; Blue Marsh yields the largest (size-wise) for me but Chambers is pretty darn good as well. I have numerous trips though to Hopewell in the past few years where I caught 20+ bass in a few hours. My best day was two years ago when I caught 27 one day. I think last year I had several days over 20 as well. If you look up top at the banner on the page my pic is the middle one; that one went over 6 and was caught at Hopewell (two years ago).
