we considered that it might be a bullhead. But in looking at the eyes I'm pretty sure it was a flathead. If it is indeed a bullhead, then it very well may have been a state record, it was real close to 5lbs and the state record is 4lb 10oz. (that's my dad holding it btw).

Definitely a bullhead...the biggest one I have ever seen. Flatheads are more mottled and even a very young one is going to be bigger than that. Plus their mouths are wider and heads are more flattened.

alright. I will concede. Im no catfish expert but I thought the eyes were smaller on a flathead which was why I decided thats what it was. It was released just after that pic, so I now firmly believe there is a PA state record bullhead in Chambers. That was caught on the rock wall in the middle of the lake on a green pumpkin yamamoto hula grub 4", someone go catch it.

Yeah that's a big bullhead. Bullheads are excellent flathead bait.

Looks like a bullhead catfish to me, certainly not a flathead. As for the mystery fish, I've heard of a decent walleye population in there, but who knows.

Bullhead for sure, flatheads have very wide heads and one that weight would be young and streamlined and would not have such a belly. That was definitely a trophy that would have been worth weighing.
