Any of you guys that have been out, any close calls with the ice? I may end up solo tomorrow if my friends bail. thinking about wearing my kayak pdf.
Also, last year I noticed most of the crappie were suspended when I fished struble, rather than stacked on the bottom, what part of the water column you guys seeing fish? any nicer crappie ? seems like our lakes contain mostly stunted crappie.

yeah we did too. Marsh creek fished awesome last couple years. it was a lot of fun but again no big fish, but big enough to keep. its also way closer to where I live than struble. Cool thing with struble is checking out the fish farm near by.
Ill definitely be out early myself. Ill prob be wearing a black stormr jacket and a red PFD. lol.

Fished from 8 AM - 1 PM today (Friday). The slush on top of the ice stiffened up so walking was effortless, wear grips, the ice is slick. Ice is a good 4 inches. We had a overcast sky with flurries. At 11 AM I made a move just as the sky got dark and the wind picked up and it was on! The crappie bite was steady for an hour until the sky cleared then it went dead. Alot of follows but no takers once the sun broke out. Back out tomorrow before the warm temperatures arrive.

Gordons opens at 8am. Ill be at struble bright and early tomorrow for my first real trip out this season and I cant wait. Looks like sunny skies tomorrow so I hope the trend iceman found today doesn't apply. I fished a small lake today for an hour on a sketchy 4 inches of white ice. It held up but the bite was almost non existent. See you guys tomorrow morning.

Looked like there was a tournament going on out there today. The parking lot was full by about 8:30. Ice stayed firm all day. I couldnt stay on the fish, wound up moving a couple times. Caught 16 crappies a perch and a couple gills. They would bite when you could find them but after you pulled a couple out they were gone. Drilled one good hole where I pulled 7 crappies out before they left.

Drilled one good hole where I pulled 7 crappies out before they left. had a very similar day. I caught about 15-20 fish, but for an all day outting it was slow. mostly smaller crappie and some yellow perch and a couple sunnies Couldn't believe all the cars, but thats the nice thing about ice fishing, it can be crowded and its not a problem. We did catch one crappie that was pretty nice. Some of the crappie i caught were no more than a foot down, others were hugging bottom. Anybody else heading back out in the am? My arm is sore from dull auger but i think i am gonna go. Worried this may be all we got, why not give it another shot.
