Figured I'd pass on what I've learned. I called down to the tackle shop on the lake this afternoon, asked about conditions.
Guy was very helpful. Said that the lake is clear of ice, with water right about 41 degrees. He's thinking that the Crappie will begin to move into shore cover in the next few days. I was planning on running down on Friday, since I'll spend Saturday on the creek for trout. My only concern is that rain showers are in the forecast for Friday, and Octoraro lake (I've yet to figure out where the last "O" came from, been Octorara since my father was a kid) muddies very quickly. May be to early anyway. Have to keep an eye on the timing, I guess. Or, you know, buy a boat.
