Not wanting to get skunked at MC again, I decided to take the day and try my luck kayak fishing at Scott's Run. What a difference! I was able to land two lm bass, one a dink and the other in the 1-1/2 lb range but saw many more. I also caught a 22" chain pickerel that put up a good fight. All were caught in 3-4 feet of water using a weedless grub . I was just about to head for the dock but stumbled across some schooling white perch so I brought out the fly rod and size 12 hopper. After boating a half dozen, it was time to call it a day well spent. It was a beautiful calm day and was I pleasantly surprised by the varied life in the lake. There is hope after MC!

LOL I went to MC today for another shot. Caught a small LMB about 11 inches. And that's it again. Really tough out there....I was thinking of heading to Octoraro this weekend or next week. Anyone have any thoughts on that lake?

Kilroy, what did you catch the pikerel on? I've yet to catch one this year and it's on my list. I saw four or five of them follow my spinners when I was out there a few weeks ago, but none committed

dmancari18, I was covering some shallow water using a Yamamoto DT Hula Grub on an unweighted weedless 4/0 hook. He hit it on the fall. I've also had success in some northern lakes using a Heddon torpedo, again in some shallow (<4') water. Beautiful fish.

Anyone have any thoughts on that lake? I fished MC all the time and will take it over Octoraro any day. I fished OCt Res over a dozen times this year and got skunked on every trip (lost one on a minnow). All reports I gathered back at the dock pointed to the same results. The water is always reddish brown stained and not a ton of structure to work. You have to travel pretty far in your non-gass powered boat to find good rock and drop off points. I've thrown my entire tackle box through that lake and have yet to leave with a bass. Things may change there in the fall though. I read in old reports on this board that there aren't many in there but the ones that are seem to be in the 4+ lb range. I'm curious if anyone is catching trout or smallmouth in Scott's Run?
