So I tried my luck on the water yesterday afternoon. One 17" Hawg LM, a nice size 11" white perch and a monster 30" catfish. The LM and perch were both caught on a deep diving rattle trap about 20 feet from shore. The catfish was caught on some minnows dropped to the bottom with an egg sinker. Lots of activity on the water, plenty of fish striking the top and tons of baitfish. They looked like shad and running in massive schools. Anyone know anything about those fish? Can you net them for bait? Do they grow any larger to catch on a rod? My only complaint is having to pay 4.75 to launch my boat and having to stand around for 20 minutes knocking on the door, ringing the bell at the bait shop and banging on the house door just to return my fishing card, since they don't issue flags anymore. No answer and after waiting that long, I just shoved the card under the door and left.

I too have been pissed off by the customer service at Octoraro. I fished it a couple weeks ago and the bass were hitting deep crankbaits pretty well. I found the just off the drop off from the bank. As for the schooling fish, I don't have much of an answer. I know marsh creek has had schools of large bluegills in deep water hitting bugs on the surface.

Nice to hear people are catching fish here! I have fished there many times and never caught more than a sunny. I might have to give it another try since marsh creek has been so lame this year, at least for me. Might be nice to fish a lake without like a thousand other boats on it too.

I'm trying to load pictures of my catch. Anyone know how to load it from an iPhone? You have to upload the pics to a picture sharing website, like Photobucket. Then link to them using the "Insert Image" button at the top of the Create Post page. Tom
