Ok now that Ive got everyones attention!!!!
I really enjoy the participation over hot topics, but one things for sure. Theres a line.
Again I urge you guys to actually sign up. Create a name, if you want your voice heard and to be respected then put yourself out there.
Although theres a lot of disagreement here, the lake is all of ours and at the same time NONE of ours. I'll leave it at that.
For everyone who comes on just to read, make yourself a username please, if theres another outbreak of poo slinging on here I am going to have to change the board to where you will have to sign in to view anything. I dont want to deter people from stopping by with that but its starting to feel like thats what its gona take!
On the flip side its gona be a beautiful weekend. Lets go fishing ( or pheasant hunting!)

I for one would welcome unregistered reading and posting only when registered. This way you have to "stand up" for what you're saying.

Agreed, is there some way you can make it so that users can only post if they sign up?

I agree that the administrator of this web site should require that all people making comments on this site should identify themselves. this might eliminate the stupid comments made about killing certain types of fish. I've been fishing M.C. since 1976,fish and release. Thank you Gordon's for letting me sound off.

As one of the top posters of this board I am fully behind only registered members being able to post. All of the members who post here are courteous for the most part and this should be a forum for voicing opinions in a respectable manner. all opinions should be welcome, but you should also be held responsible for your comments.

Not sure how registering will help, people register with fictitious names. How does that identify you to anyone else on the board? The board owner or moderators should have access the troublesome posters IP address. A simple email stating they will be banned if they don't shape up should straighten things out.

The problem i found on the board was I only had the option to make registration mandatory and you must be logged in to view anything. I didnt really want to do that to deter people further. I guess I could do that if everyone feels thats the best way.

I think that may be a little too extreme if they can't view the board without signing up. Is there a way you can view and ban IP address's like shellback suggested?

Have people log in with there real name. It's done wonders on another board I frequent. The members have their real name first with their old screen name next to it.

I don't think that's so good of an idea for a local board like this. We have John Doe post on an internet form about his fishing success and all about his boat, and gear etc. Next think you know some perp is checking out where he lives to rob him. Far fetched, maybe, but I'd bet a large portion of tackle heists are done by folks who know what the victim has.

Yeah your right....lets live scared and worry about the thieves.
Isn't that what the terrorists want in this country? to live in fear of others.
Nobody is forcing anyone to post pictures of their gear, boat etc.... that's their own personal choice.
Guess what, "perps" can go to marsh creek or any other lake and watch people, get their license plate, maybe even follow them home......I guess you better not go fishing in public anymore.
If anything, using real names will only make this local board STRONGER and will help to create a COMMUNITY of people that know each other, look out for each other, and most importantly, STAND UP FOR EACH OTHER.

But there wont be anything to stop people from giving a fake name, which the trolls will take advantage of.

So what are the musky bitting on? I dont post much but i'm in agreement that the "guest" option should be removed. The "guest" seem to say things that anger the regular viewers of this message board and take away from its intended purpose. Tight lines everyone

I too agree that the guest option should be taken away. Typically when someone is posting "unwanted" comments etc. its as a guest to this forum. I dont believe that real names have to be used as I have met many of you down at the lakes without everyone knowing each others names. When I talk to someone I usually ask....."do you belong to Gordon Sports forum"; if so...then I tell them my forum identity on the boards. But again; if you go through the many topics and discussions and see an inappropriate comment; its normally a "guest".

Well guys for now with the free board we host through, my only options are to either keep it as is, or lock it out to anyone whos not a registered user.
So for now I ask, if you see someone posting irrationally, report it to me, report the post or email us and I will delete/ ban IPs that get out of hand. In the future we may move to pro boards or something similar where I would have greater admin abilities to regulate what goes on.
2nd way would be to simple ignore the people who are just out to troll and cause a disturbance.
3rd i KNOW who some of these guys are, doesn't make me happy that these individuals come on here simply to start a war. Have some respect.
Thanks to all of you who regular the board and stand behind you actions and postings.
