Called the rangers over at deep creek lake today. They said the lake is completely covered but wont be safe untill sometime next week. I have only ever fished this lake in the summer and have never really done that well (it getts soooo weedy its almost not fun to fish). Has anyone ever fished it from the ice? How have you guys done on this lake?

Got out to the C'Ville Reservoir tonight. I fished the bay towards the dam. Dink perch and gills most of the night until sundown. I caught a few white perch and kept them for dinner. I wasn't planning on keeping anything but I hear these things can become a nuisance. The middle of the lake is covered with geese and open water. The rest is covered with decent ice.

Fished the C'Ville Res. this morning for about two hours. Ice held up well. In fact, it got rid of the top layer of snow ice that was covering it before the meltdown. The fishing?...well that didn't improve much. Same story, a few perch, a few white perch and a lone crappie. I think I am going to venture in the deeper water and the far side of the lake tomorrow. I have been marking fish, just not committed like I wish they were. I have some fresh minnows and new lures to try (thanks Gordon's) so hopefully tomorrow will bring a better report.

Glad to hear that the res. didn't suffer much damage from the weekend. Just be careful crossing to the other side. There's a large pipe (12") there where water flows into the lake close to the dam, very easy to see. Stay clear here!!! This is constantly moving water and the ice isn't very thick at that spot, even in cold weather. Good luck.

Was out at the C'ville res yesterday morning and evening. Caught lots of perch in the 6-7 inch range, half dozen crappie and a few small bass. Hope to get out Saturday morning and/or evening.

Fished the C-ville res Sunday afternoon and ran into a few half decent crappies. Problem was after about 10 minutes they turned off. Many small perch and gills. Fishing seems to be getting better though.

Was at the Coatesville yesterday from about 10:30am-12 noon. Managed 4 decent fish, two crappies and two gills along with lots of small stuff. Saw many fish on the scope but they were very shy. I'm hoping it's just a matter of time before they get hungry......and I'm there when it happens!

I was out at the C-ville res. this morning for a couple of hours but no luck. Caught small gills, crappies, and extra small perch, the usual for me there so far this year. I did mark lots of fish that wouldn't bite. Maybe you have to be there extra early or extra late??

Maybe you have to be there extra early or extra late?? ...tried both, neither worked, for me. It has been like every lake this year. Hit or miss. There are times when I cant keep my lure in the water. Then there are HOURS when I jig and jig and jig and jig some more and watch the fish on the screen come and go. Mostly go. It is a good year for ice, tough fishing though. On the plus side. there is a lot of ice. Antietam has over a foot, Struble has almost a foot. I'm going to practice a lot before march. Good luck

Fished the c-ville res. this morning for a couple of hours. Lots of small perch with a couple of decent gills thrown in. Walking was a problem though. Lots of work just to get to a spot.
