Gonna rent a boat and take the kids out this weekend. Anyone have any suggestions ? I've had some success w/ panfish in the cove to the left of the launch. Thanks for any suggestions.

Ouch! Can't help with suggestions, but if you are looking to rent a boat and take some kids out fishing without alot of lake lice running around, I guess Octorora has that much covered. all I can say is bring a variety of bait, somethings gotta bite eventually.

I think if I was going to Octoraro (and I've never really fished it) I would try for some carp! I hear theres a descent amount of carp out there. But taking the kids out, some small jigs, bobbers and wax worms can produce fish out of any puddle to keep the kids happy.
Kboatman, you know the deal...if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all...seriously...

We didn't get out this weekend. From my experience the average size crappie is above average from here. I have had good success w/ channel catfish and carp. The bass can be tough, but can be decent sized. At least you don't have near the fishing pressure here that you do in many other local lakes.

My experience is that it is a very hot and cold lake. I often get skunked there. Oter times I can have a great outing. It really just comes down to temperature and finding the fish.
