Took a ride to Hopewell and Scotts run this morning. One lone ice fisherman on Hopewell. He was fishing just the other side of the two islands, didn't see him catch anyhing while I was there. Went over to Scotts, no one fishing but could see signs of holes drilled from the other side out to deeper water. This weekend should be the start of good ice on most lakes, after this cold spell coming up!

Me and Big Bass throw everything back. The fun part is catching, even funner to release. No hook and cook for us.

I'm pretty much a bass fisherman and practice catch & release 100% of the time, but give this a little thought. If everybody released every bass they caught it could be just as bad as everybody taking all the bass home, instead of no bass to catch (this pertains to all species of fish) we could end up with nothing but a lake full of stunted bass that don't get any bigger than 10 or 11 inches and then we would all be complaining about all the little fish and no big ones. This goes for all fish species, blue gills, crappie, perch, bass and what ever else might be in the lake or river, just remember that over harvesting is not good either and the smaller the body of water the easier it is to hurt the fishing.

I haven't caught a legal bass this year yet. But I don't fish for them either .I catch them jigging some times. I am mainly a pan fisherman targeting crappie & perch .But I am happy to catch nice gills . The nice gills should soon be moving in at marsh creek & that will be my new home if the ice holds out & I don't have work. You have to go ice fishing when you can . We don't seem to get safe ice every year anymore last year all those pannies were left to grow another year .I am just thinning the herd a little
