I noticed a flock of ruddy ducks at marsh creek today. Buffleheads haven't shown up yet at my dads place in maryland yet. Their usually their by opening day. Anyone see anything else?

saw a bunch of common mergansers down the river, still a few woodies around though. and a whole bunch of geese moving through everyday other than that nothing. Still got 2+ weeks til it opens so hopefully there is plenty of time for them to move in.

Tons of geese moving today. Todays weather was perfect for everything. Saw a little buck chasing a pair of doe's this morning. Season starts this weekend in maryland. I'm gonna go down but mostly going to scout some spots. Public lands too crowded opening day. Probably walk out the marsh in the mid day with my gun and mark stuff on the gps.

When we were there last week, I saw a flock of smaller, dark colored ducks. not a duck hunter so I'm not sure what they were. We tried to get a picture but when we got to within about 30 yards they took off. They all stayed real low to the water and were jetting. This was in the ranger cove.

I haven't been out on the water but I do live out on a horse farm and I have been seeing a crazy amount of geese coming in. it kills me that i can't hunt there. Also there is a creek bordering the property and while I was tracking a deer the other day I came across about a dozen woodies in the creek.

I wonder what Reeler4real's picture was? I'm guessing it had nothing to do with migration.

went to maryland this weekend. Saw some bluewing teal. Hunted the last hour saturday and a couple teal buzzed my decoys catching me off guard. Didn't expect much for an afternoon hunt on public land opening day. Mostly just scouted new spots with the gps. Kicked up black ducks and mallards the whole time but they were all out of range. Picked out a few sika deer spots today. Walked 6 miles through marsh with waders on. A few buffleheads hanging out in front of the dock.

Has some friends of mine go down for sea ducks this past weekend and they got limits everyday so hopefully i can get down once or twice for a shoot, they said there were birds everywhere. Saw quite a few divers on the river, mostly buffs and mergs, also saw a pack of woodies, went up to Blue Marsh and it was dead, Any body seein ducks on marsh , other than the ruddys and coots. Not sure whether im gonna hunt saturday or not, i know its gonna be crowded, might hit the goose field. Since they are all over the place like rats.

I'm tempted to try a spot on the river but like you said it will be crowded. Probably gonna try to book a blind in cecil county maryland. I mostly goose hunted last year so I'm going to try and concentrate on ducks this year. What kind of sea ducks did they shoot?

scoters, and old squaw, dont get many eiders down this far til later in the season. I usually hunt ducks during the week when people are working and geese on the weekends since i dont have to worry about someone taking that spot. I guess it depends on the weather for saturday though, id like to duck hunt but im not sure its gonna be worth it.

only got one mallard in maryland. Only saw a couple mallards. Saw mostly woodies and teal so they can't be migrating too hard yet if I'm only seeing early season birds. I thought the spot we were going to would be ok when I scouted it in august but when we got there I found out they flood the place in the spring and then drain it for duck season, exposing all the plants. You can walk across it with knee boots on. On the right day it could be scary good. I'll post some pics. Where did you hunt bigcountry?
