Obviously there has been a problem person here lately, and its been under consideration to change the forum so only registered members would be allowed to post. Would eliminate all these guest posters, posting anything BUT what everyone wants to see I know there are quite a few people here who post only as guests, and wouldn't want to cut you out for posting, just wanted to get a feel for the non-registered legitimate posters, thought of this. Would you sign up and stick around? Feel free to post your opinions, and just ignore our problem person as his posts will be deleted anyways..

I guess that answers the question. But I don't mind that pic in the least. The angry guest posts about my bowfishing are hilarious. Seriously though I think its a good idea. Its not hard to register.

Register to post - it's not hard to register and it's free, it only takes a moment to do.

I'll sign up and continue. I'll also continue with the way it is. I can't allow myself to change because of some malcontent.

I don't post much but I find the forums very informative. I just skip over the rebel-rouser comments. Gordon's keep up the good work.

I'm good either way...I just filter out the stupid stuff. My concern is with the possibility of some younger people seeing this stuff...not that they can't see it anyway. If you decide to make registering mandatory (not a big deal in my book), you might want to make the login area more visible/accessible. I have posted as a guest before at times only because I was in a hurry and didn't have time to find the login.

If this person wants to do their dirty deeds they can just re-register over and over again under different names, can't they? The bottom line here is, it got posted, it got caught, and it got gone................. Good job Gordon's. I do not like it one bit but let's not let the tail wag the dog.

I think you can only register once under an email address.

So much for that concept. Thanks for the info "bradmhendrickson". It is still sad that all this is coming about because of possibly one persons warped sense of humor.

^ thats true that they could keep registering and posting nonsense, but it makes it a slight bit of a hassle on their part to have to register to post there garbage as opposed to just jumping on real quick and having a run on the forums under a guest. All of you guys would have nothing to change or even do, since your all already registered users. Its not like what we have going on here is anything new to forums by any means. But many forums take action via, registered only users, member sign up approval by moderators, or even posts moderated before theyre made available to the rest of the board. I don't think it should come to that, but if you spend anytime here posting and whatnot, theres no reason not to sign up, like everyone said, its free and it doesnt take that long.

Is there a way to make posts viewable only to guests? Perhaps making write access available only to registered members will a) discourage the nonsense and b) encourage legitimate guest to actually register.

well thats esentially what this whole thread is about. If you had to be registered to post, than non registered users would have to join to do anything other than just come here and read posts.

I think thats the way to go. I am a member of a few hunting/fishing forums and they are all like that. Don't see too many problem posts.

teb67gt, if we were to change the message board so only members could post we would hope that most of the people who do post as a guest would register but we will loose some of them, I don't know how many but some people will not register on any message board. I read some of the local bass clubs message boards and even some of there own members won't register on their own site. We would rather keep it an open site, it just seems like the right way to do it. I don't know why this person is posting this stuff on the board but it's ashame they have nothing better to do with their time.
