After a century of manufacturing blades for the Boy Scouts, and members of the military, Camilllus Knives has closed its doors. The company started maufacturing its own knives in 1897, however Camillus had suffered from increasing competion from foreign knife manufacturers. At one time employing over 700 employes, a company strike reduced the work force to fewer than 20. Last year Schrade Cutlery surcumbed to the same fate.
