Stopped by the lake late this afternoon to check on the ice , and to see if there was any change in the condition of the ice after the rain thursday. The good news is that the lake was frozen over except on small spot at the end of the boat mooring area (this area is always last to freeze as there must be springs in that spot). I ventured out about 4 feet off shore at the boat ramp and saw no signs of the ice cracking. Hard to tell the thickness ,but still to early to be safe I'd say. Didn't see any signs of anybody drilling holes either. We'll have to see if the warm weather predicted the end of the week has much effect on the ice. Those browns the fish commission stocked are just waiting to be caught! ;D

Second stop was Scotts Run and with 1 to 2 inches of ice it's not safe either.

Just a note for you trout fishermen on Scotts, the lake is sceduled to recieve it's last winter stocking on the week of Feb 7th. The last stocking was with lots of nice browns in the 14 to 18 inch range. Lets hope its repeated this time. Ice is in good shape except at area at the end of the boat morrings. This seems to have springs there as it is always last to freeze . Be careful to stay away from that area!
